Magomed Ankalaev defeats Aleksandar Rakic in striking battle at UFC 308

Top ranked Magomed Ankalaev and Aleksandar Rakic just clashed in a pivotal light heavyweight bout in Abu Dhabi.
Good striking from both parts in the beginning of the fight. Rakic looked patient and tried to keep himself on a kicking range, while his opponent seemed a bit more eager to land something big. Rakic defended well using headmovement and footwork.
Explosive start of the second round. Ankalaev kept up the pressure and landed a couple of good straight lefts. Halway into the round he landed a good straight left to the body. The Dagestani showed proof of his good boxing throughout the round.
Ankalaev pressured in the third round. Rakic was constantly on the backfoot and his opponent landed straight left punches. With two minutes left, Rakic tried to go for a takedown but Ankalaev defended well.
The fight went the distance and Magomed Ankalaev stood as the winner via unanimous decision with 29-28 on the scorecards.
”Alex (Pereira), stop running away from me,” Ankalaev said after the fight.
