Swedish-Brazilian OKTAGON bantamweight champion Felipe ”D’Ouro” Lima (12-1) is set for his first title defense.
At OKTAGON 59 on July 20, he will take on rival and former champion Jonas Mågård in a five round bout. Lima won the belt from Mågård back in July last year, with an impressive performance over five rounds. After the final bell he stood as the winner via unanimous decision.
Lima may have lost his pro MMA debut back in 2015 but is undefeated since, with twelve straight wins. He won the FCR bantamweight title with a spectacular first-round knockout against Evgeny Odnorog in 2021.
After the massive win at FCR, ”D’Ouro” had trouble getting opponents until he finally fought Danish bantamweight Jonas “Shark Mågård for the OKTAGON bantamweight strap.
After five rounds of action, where Lima was clearly the better fighter, he stood as the winner via unanimous decision. Even though Lima was deducted a point due to an illegal knee, he was still able to secure the win with 48-45, 48-46 and 48-45 on the scorecards.
