British heavyweight Joffie Houlton will soon introduce himself to the Scandinavian MMA audience.

On May 25 he set to take on Nermin Hajdarpasic in a heavyweight showdown at Superior Challenge 27. In an exclusive interview with Frontkick talks fighting on Swedish soil for the first time.

“I’m excited to debut with Superior Challenge. The promotion looks great and I hear great things from my friends who have had involvement with them. I’ve always wanted to go to Sweden so when I saw the opportunity I couldn’t say no,” Houlton says.

“He’s different to those I’ve faced before”

Facing former Swedish boxing champion Hajdarpasic on enemy turf is definitely not an easy task for any heavyweight out there. The entertaining and outspoken Swede has quite a following and is known for his formidable hands and funny trash talk.

“That’s actually really cool. I’m glad he’s got a lot of support. He seems like he’s very skilled and I’m interested in the challenge he brings,” Houlton says about his opponent.

How do you see the fight play out?

“Nermin is really skilled and a difficult challenge. He’s different to those I’ve faced before. I think we will steal the show with our performance if I’m honest.”

With all of his five pro wins coming via first-round stoppage, Joffie Houlton is a very dangerous individual. During his Back in England, the 30-year-old trains with UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall to sharpen his tools even more.

“Tom’s got great energy to be around and he’s ridiculously skilled. There’s lots to learn when you’re around the best in the world. So it’s a good experience!”
