Alexander Gustafsson is more than sure that his friend and teammate Khamzat Chimaev will beat Nate Diaz at UFC 279. “Mauler” really likes the welterweight matchup and believes that Chimaev is ready for whatever opponent the UFC will give him in the future.
”Amazing. He is going to do what he is doing all the time, Khamzat. He is just going to get in there and beat him up. He is ready. He is ready for the whatever they put in front of him,” Gustafsson said on the UFC media day.
Training together at Allstars Training Center, the former light heavyweight challenger and Khamzat has been teammates for a long time.
“We are good friends and teammates. We are a family back at Allstars, so that’s what we do. We help each other, he helps me alot,” Gustafsson told the reporters.
Nate Diaz is a heavy underdog against Khamzat Chimaev
According to Best Fight Odds, which collects betting lines via online bookmakers, Diaz is a big underdog against Chimaev in one opening betting line for their verbally agreed UFC 279 headline bout. Nate Diaz was +775 while Khamzat Chimaev was -1100.
UFC 279 is expected to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 10.
