On Friday we will see Alexander Lööf (7-2) return to Cage Warriors for a tough match against Weslley Maia (9-6) at Cage Warriors 180.

Lööf has made a big impression in the promotion with his 2023 ‘Fight of the Year’ against Luke Riley and his performances in the PrizeFighter tournament.

“Maia is next in line. I don’t know much about him really except that he won in the PFL against a guy who was 8-0 then,” Lööf tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview. “He stood out a bit on PrizeFighter, as I thought he was one of the more entertaining guys.”

Alexander Lööf could be next in line for a title shot

Friday’s main event was supposed to be a bantamweight championship fight where title holder Liam Gittins would take on PrizeFighter-winner Shirzad Qadrian, which of course was a fight that the Swede would have kept a close eye on. However, the fight was cancelled due to an injury and at the moment there’s no word if the fight will be postponed or if the champion will fight another opponent next.

If Lööf gets his hand raised against Maia he could very well find himself fighting for the title in 2025.

“I’ve heard some rumors that whoever wins between me and Maia may be next in line to fight for the belt,” Lööf says.

Regardless if there is a title shot on the line or not, the Swedish fighter has his mind set on delivering the goods in London.

“We will go in and focus on what we do and that is to try to entertain to the max.”
