Undefeated Swedish bantamweight Ali Taleb returns to action on Saturday to take on Kenji Bortoluzzi on the main card of PFL Europe in Berlin.

Recently talking to Sweden’s leading podcast about fighting, Käftsmällspodden, Taleb shares his thoughts on Bortoluzzi, who has not competed for almost two years.

The two were actually scheduled to fight in PFL this past August in Taleb’s promotional debut. However, three weeks before the fight Bortoluzzi pulled out, but know the bantamweights will finally duke it out in the cage.

“He got the chance again, and I don’t think he deserve it, because the fight in London was win or go home kind of fight,” Taleb said.

“What happens happens,” Taleb said. “I train like an idiot every day and I know what I’m capable of. He’s good, I will never underestimate my opponents. Everything can happen, one punch and you could go down.”

Ali Taleb studied his opponent well

Taleb claims he has a pretty good idea of what Bortoluzzi can do and that he has a habit of studying all of his opponents.

“Honestly brother, everyone cares. If you say that you don’t care about your opponent you are lying,” Taleb said. “You have to. You have to see what his weaknesses are and what he’s good at. You train for the opponents you’re facing and we have a gameplan for every fight.”

“Could have been in the UFC now”

With seven finishes in eight fights, the undefeated Swede is well on his way to break through on the international MMA scene.

However, Ali Taleb doesn’t seem to be in a hurry.

“My goal is to give the crowd a good fight. That’s my first priority. And of course I want to go to the UFC and take a belt. I have goals of course, like every fighter does, but I don’t fantasize that much about belts and stuff at this point. I’m 8-0 right now, I’m in the PFL, I have this tournament. I have this goal right now, these three fights. After that I have the next goal.”

“I could have been in the UFC now, after winning the belt (UAE Warriors bantamweight title) and knocking out the Brazilian (Vinicius de Oliveira). But I said no thanks, since I’m still young, brother, and they didn’t pay that much. To hell with money but, there is more money in PFL for example and you can get more spotlight.”

PFL Europe takes place at the Verti Music Hall in Berlin on Saturday July 8. Here’s all you need to know about the stacked event!
