Decorated Muay Thai fighters Anne-Line Hogstad and Johanna Persson will clash in a red-hot Scandinavian Muay Thai derby at AFN 8 this upcoming Saturday.
As a three-time Norwegian champion, ISKA scandinavian champion and a two-time ISKA world champion, Hogstad is as seasoned of a fighter as it gets. Her Swedish opponents are four-time Swedish champion, ISKA world champion and WMC nordic champion.
In other words, the two strikers have enough combined belts to start a Muay Thai museum.
“Johanna is one active fighter, a forward fighter and strong. She is good and I look forward to meeting her in the ring,” Hogstad tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview.
Anne-Line Hogstad: More mixed events in Scandinavia!
Another interesting aspect of the Scandinavian Muay Thai derby is that it will go down in a cage. AFN 8 will take place at Quality Hotel Strawberry Arena in front of hundreds of hungry MMA fans. However, fighting in a cage is nothing new for the seasoned Norwegian striker.
“I have fought twice in a cage. I don’t think so much about it,” Hogstad says. “Some cages can be big, so you have more space for the fight. When the fight starts that is not what you have on your mind.”
“I can’t say this enough, but I think it is super cool that they have MMA and Muay Thai. We need more of this in Scandinavia!”
