The Fight Club Rush bantamweight champion Bernardo Sopai is set for his first title defense, as he will clash with France’s Julien Lopez in the FCR 15 main event. The promotion just announced the fight on social media.
In a comment to Maximum Sports, the reigning champion is confident going into his first title defense, in his hometown of Stockholm.
“I’m ready to defend my belt, I can’t wait for the fight,” Sopai said. “I will bring a show and the fans can expect fireworks. I’m way better than what I showed in my last fight, I never stopped training and I’m getting better every day. On February 25 I will show that. And still!” (Translated from Swedish by Frontkick)
Sopai won the title after defeating Karlen Minasian via a second-round stoppage at FCR 13 in August, and now enters the cage with a professional record of 9-2. The challenger Lopez goes into the fight with a record of 5-2-1.
