After three straight losses Swedish flyweight Jakob Valegren took his first MMA pro win at Zone Pro League 6 this past Saturday.
Talking exclusively to Frontkick, the flyweight shares his thoughts on the important win.
“It feels bloody good of course, but with that said, it feels like the fight was more to get the career rolling after a very shaky start,” Valegren says.
After three rounds of action, the flyweight fighter stood as the winner via unanimous decision.
“It took me a couple of minutes to get a feel for what he wanted and for me to find my timing. He punched hard but the longer the fight went the more comfortable I got,” Valegren says. “I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t work harder to get the finish, I didn’t take the chances to stop him even though I had some good chances.”
“I have a great coach in Patrik Hjulström who prepared me well for the fight. Everything I did good in this fight are things he taught and drilled with me over and over. So he should have all the cred for that.”
During his four-fight pro career he competed in leading Scandinavian promotions like Fight Club Rush, Wolf Fight Promotion and Zone Pro League.
When Frontkick reaches out to Jakob Valegren for an interview, just two days after whis first professional win, the flyweight is already back in the gym preparing for his next outing.
What’s next for you?
“I have to give you a bit of a boring answer here, but I honestly haven’t had time to think about it yet,” Valegren says. “But I will be back soon, that’s for sure!”
