Swedish heavyweight king Nermin Hajdarpasic suffered a brutal injury in the main event of this past Saturday’s Superior Academy.

In the second round in his bout against Joffie Houlton, the Swedish former boxing champion threw a heavy right hand with so much force that his shoulder dislocated.

“I missed his big head,” Hajdarpasic tells Frontkick. “I was going to punch him out – one hundred percent! I was much stronger. Whatever he tried, I had an answer to it. When I jabbed at him and he was folding I tried to hit him with a big shot, but then the shoulder dislocated. F*cking shit. It hurt so bad.”

Many thought Houlton caused the dislocation by grabbing Hajdarpasic’s arm, but when you are watching the sequence from a different angle than the live broadcast, you can clearly see the brutal injury was caused by the missed punch.

“In the video angle they filmed you couldn’t see. Some idiots say it was an straight armbar. They just don’t get it, but everybody got their story. In the other video angle you can see that I’m screaming in pain as soon as I throw the punch. The referee saw it too and stepped in.”

Nermin Hajdarpasic: “I never felt pain like this”

At the hospital, the doctors first considered surgery, but after three hours they were able to get the shoulder back into position.

“I never felt pain like this. I’ve never been this scared. I wouldn’t wish for my worst enemy to go through this,” Hajdarpasic says. “The doctor told me I can’t move the shoulder for three months and then I need to go through three months of rehab before starting training again. My career might be over.”

“Right now, I just think about getting well, we will have to see. I think I will recover faster than normal people. The doctor said it’s actually hardest to recover mentally. That it’s common to be scared that it will happen again.”
