On January 27, PFL returs with the Challenger Series where fighters compete for a chance at potentially joining the season tournament.

PFL Challenger Series will feature a group of welterweights who will be fighting for a place in the division where Swedish striking sensation Sadibou Sy is the current champion.

One particularly interesting fighter in the Challenger Series is Quemuel Ottoni, who’s known for being the only man to ever beat reigning UFC middleweight champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira in MMA.

Ottoni’s win over Pereira came back in the latter’s debut in 2015, when he secured a third-round submission to finish the future UFC middleweight king. “Poatan” then came to win all of his fights, including the UFC Championship bout against Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 in November.

Another interesting fighter in the Challenger Series is Lucas Barbosa, who’s a highly decorated grappling champion with notable wins over UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns and former Bellator champion Rafael Lovato to his name.
