MMA star Nick Diaz seems set to make his acting debut alongside iconic action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme.
In the upcoming action movie Darkness of Man, directed by James Cullen Bressack, the 62-year-old Van Damme stars in a leading role, while the MMA veteran reportedly will be seen in a “badass fight scene”.
According to an Instagram post by Matt Staudt, the co-founder of Game Up Nutrition, Diaz has already begun shooting for the film.
“The movie I was in LA for last month wrapped yesterday. Get ready for a new, gritty and dark crime story set in LA starring @jcvd and features @nickdiaz209 who killed it. Nick also has a badass fight scene in the film. When it got to rehearsing the fight, he took over and of course had better ideas than the film’s stunt coordinator which is what ended up being filmed and looked awesome,” Staudt wrote.
The UFC veteran, and former Strikeforce Welterweight champion, plans a return to fighting in 2023.
At a fan meet-and-greet in Las Vegas in December, he claimed he will make a octagon comeback against the top of the middleweight division.
Nick Diaz made his last UFC appearance against fellow veteran Robbie Lawler in 2021. The fight lived up to its expectations, and in the end, Laweler stood as the winner via stoppage.
