Brazilian MMA fighter Ricardo Monteiro returns to Swedish soil this weekend.
In the main event of the stacked AFN 8, Monteiro is facing a very tough test in Swedish UAE Warriors champion Samuel “Sammon Decker” Bark.
“He is a very aggressive fighter just like me! His specialty is Muay Thai and he is a very experienced champion in other organizations,” Monteiro tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview. “It will be an electrifying fight, I believe it can be one of the best fights in the AFN.”
The fight will have all the eyes on it since Bark is a popular fighter among Swedish MMA fans. He became the UAE Warriors featherweight champion a while back and intends to use AFN as a way to get into the UFC.
Monteiro, who’s four last wins came via stoppage, seems comfortable with the tough challenge and can’t wait to get back in the cage to show the crowd what he’s made of.
“I am very happy and motivated to be in the main fight and I prepared myself a lot to put on a show. Led by Master Cristiano Marcello, I will show how technical and aggressive I am.”
Ricardo Monteiro: “An honor to come back”
October 19 will mark Monteiro’s second fight in the Swedish promotion. At AFN 5 in March he went toe to toe with Mark Vologdin in a tough fight that ended with a loss for the Brazilian. Now, he’s eager to come back to get his first win on Swedish soil.
“I love Sweden, it’s a beautiful country and the people love sport,” Monteiro says. “I was very well received and it’s an honor to come back and do the work I love for these wonderful people.”
