Smilla Sundell and Natalia Diachkova just clashed in the main event of ONE Fight Night 22 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Diachkova started the fight at a high pace and did a good job closing the distance. The Russian showed proof of her fast and heavy hands as she damaged the Swede’s left eye.
In the second round, Sundell took over more and more. Just before the bell, she landed a solid punch to the liver and followed up with relentless strikes to the head until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
Ahead of the fight, Sundell was stripped from her ONE Championship Muay Thai strawweight title as she missed the 125 lbs championship weight limit with 1,5 lbs.
“I’m really sad I didn’t make weight yesterday. I really did my best. I’m tall,” Sundell said at the ceremonial weigh-ins.
Diachkova accepted a 126.5 lb catchweight bout and took 30% of the Swede’s purse.
