Du Plessis welcomes Pereira’s callout
Former middleweight champion Alex Pereira called out Dricus du Plessis after his impressive win against Israel Adesanya. At the post-fight press conference, the South African responded to the call out.
“So let me handle my business, you handle your business. You don’t have to cut the weight to have some sort of excuse. I’ll come up after the (Sean) Strickland fight. I’ll come up to 205 and we’ll sort it out there.”
Du Plessis’ eight-fight UFC winning streak at middleweight is the longest active streak in the division.
Following his big win at UFC 305, Kai Kara-France wants his next fight to be against UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pamntoja.
“If you break down this fight, I just beat the guy everyone thought should’ve been the champion,” Kara-France said at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference. “I just beat him in the first round (after) taking time away from the sport, coming back and making a statement with my actions.”
Du Plessis: Whittaker deserves title shot
Dricus du Plessis is willing to defend his middleweight strap in a rematch against Sean Stricklandt, but believes there is another fighter more deserving of the title shot.
“Robert Whittaker deserves the shot. I think he’s being done over. Whittaker beat Costa,” Du Plessis said at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference.
“He’s getting the short end of the stick, unfortunately. That’s not on me. I’ll fight whoever. Strickland’s the fight everyone wants to see, but Whittaker is the one being done over, in my opinion. He’s more deserving, but life’s not fair.”
