“The Strickland loss, he’ll never get over”

Even though it was hard to lose the grudge match against Dricus du Plessis, the Sean Strickland loss still remains Israel Adesanya’s toughest pill to swallow by far. That’s according to his head coach Eugene Bareman.

“The Strickland loss, he’ll never get over,” Bareman said. “You just fought badly, and it was unexplainable. It’s intangible. It’s not measurable what caused it. You just go down a rabbit hole of a million things. But the Dricus fight, he was doing well. It was a great contest, and he got outmaneuvered. He got outdone.”

Rakhmonov not onboard with Usman’s claims

Undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov criticizes former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for suddenly trying to insert himself into the title picture, even though he has three straight losses.

“I don’t know what he’s (Usman) thinking about,” Rakhmonov told Submission Radio through an interpreter. “Like, I think it’s kind of a shame to ask for a title shot after losing three fights straight. Like in my head, I cannot get my head around it.”

Rakhmonov claimed that Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Machado Garry are closer to a title shot than Usman.

“Maybe they should fight each other, and the winner should be next for the title after me,” he said.

Petr Yan targets spot at UFC 310 in December

Former UFC bantamweight title holder Petr Yan is eager to return to action before the year is over. He’s been out of action for quite a while due to injuries that required surgery.

“I want to fight on the last ppv card of the year,” Yan wrote on social media, and added his prefered opponent:

“[Deiveson] Figueiredo.”

The last numbered UFC card is the UFC 310 that will go down on December 7, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Cormier expects Olympic champ to make MMA transition

Former UFC double champion and Olympic medalist Daniel Cormier always keeps an eye on wrestling. He thinks that American 2024 Olympic gold medalist Amit Elor would do very well in a transition to Mixed Martial Arts.

“She’s going to be a fighter. For as good as she is in wrestling, she does really well in judo, she does tremendous in jiu-jitsu. If she does start doing [MMA] competitively, they’re going to be in trouble,” Cormier said on The Fighter vs. The Writer.
