Jorge Masvidal in talks for UFC return
Following his retirement from MMA in 2023, Jorge Masvidal claimed he’s ready to resume his UFC career.
“I’ve been talking to my boy Hunter [Campbell],” Masvidal told MMA Fighting. “Finding out, he’s like, ‘Let me check this date, see if this dude wants the heat, let me see if that guy wants to get beat up.’ First, we’ll lock in the date. Lock in that date and then we’ll find the body.”
Training six days a week with his coaches and teammates at American Top Team in Florida, “Gamebred” wants to get back in shape as soon as possible.
“It could be this year,” Masvidal said of his next fight.
DWCS star Yuneisy Duben was in financial trouble
Breakout star Yuneisy Duben was the breakout star at last week’s DWCS event.
According to Dana White, Duben was in big need of the win for financial reasons.
“She doesn’t have a dollar to her name right now. … Her per diem got messed up and all this stuff, so the staff had to go grocery shopping for her, and then she comes in and does that. Let me tell you what, she ain’t broke now.”
White revealed that in addition to receiving a contract, Duben was also given a bonus check for her brutal KO. The bonus amount was not disclosed, however.
Merab Dvalishvili: “Figueiredo deserves to fight for the belt”
Merab Dvalishvili claimed that former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is a more worthy No. 1 contender than undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov.
“Deiveson Figueiredo deserves to fight for the belt,” Dvalishvili told MMA Junkie. “He beat one former champion in this weight class and one title challenger, and he beat Rob Font. And Figueiredo is former champion, and he has big name, and he deserves.
