Canelo: “I don’t care if the UFC is there”

Boxing star Canelo Alvarez returns to action on September 14, when he defends his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The title fight goes down on the same night as UFC 306 at the Sphere, just a couple of blocks away.

“I don’t care if the UFC is there, when Canelo fights, it’s different,” Canelo said, claiming that he will beat UFC on Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Ex-PFL champion suspended 1 year

PFL heavyweight Bruno Cappelozza is suspended for one year by the USADA. The Brazilian former PFL champ tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite desethyl-clomifene.

This is the second suspension Cappelozza has faced for using banned substances. He was suspended with a nine-month sanction by the Nevada Athletic Commission last year.

Makhachev: Pimblett is a potential future UFC title challenger

Paddy Pimblett entered the top 15 lightweight rankings after a submission finish of King Green at UFC 304. Reigning champion Islam Makhachev was impressed by the performance.

“If he won the next couple matches, when he’s going to be like top 10, why not? Because I don’t have some exciting fights in my division. We need some new names,” Makhachev said about facing Pimblett down the line.

Pimblett was quick to respond to Makhachev.

“You know Islam, we’re coming. We’re coming brother, we’re coming,” Pimblett said on his YouTube channel.
