The lightweight matchup between rising star Paddy Pimblett and former interim champion Tony Ferguson got a lot of attention when it was announced a while back.

Many experts and observers has stated that it’s potentially a very dangerous matchup for the Liverpudlian, who’s been out of action since December 2022.

Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley takes it one step further as he recently expressed that the fight is a lose-lose for Pimblett.

“You go out there and beat Tony, who’s really good, but on a six-fight losing streak, so if you beat him, you’re not going to get credit for beating fucking Tony Ferguson,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel.

The bantamweight champion would never count seasoned veteran Ferguson out even though he is on a six-fight losing skid.

“You’re going to get credit for beating a guy that’s like, you should beat him, but it’s a dangerous fight. It’s not that easy of a fight. It’s going to be a tough fight. Tony could one-hundred percent win this fight. Now you’re coming off a loss to a guy … I mean, at least it’s still T-Ferg, but it’s like, is it T-Ferg?”
