UFC returned to Canada with a big fight card headlined by a pivotal flyweight fight between former champion Brandon Moreno and rising star Amir Albazi.
The two-time UFC flyweight champ dominated Albazi from bell-to-bell over five rounds. He used his slick boxing to batter his opponent and picked up a unanimous decision win with 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45 on the scorecards.
In the women’s flyweight co-main event, Erin Blanchfield defeated former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision with 48-47 on all three scorecards. The loss snapped Namajunas’ two-fight winning streak and she moved to 2-2 since going up to flyweight in 2023.
Ivana Petrovic’s second UFC loss
Norway’s Ivana Petrovic faced Canadian flyweight Jamey-Lyn Horth in the prelims. The hometown fighter was able to pull off a split decision win with 30-27, 29-28 and 28-29 on the scorecards. The 30-27 is hard to explain since Petrovic dominated a large chunk of the first round.
The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card. Performance of the Night bonuses went to Youssef Zalal, Charles Jourdain, Dustin Stoltzfus and Jasmine Jasudavicius.
