Legendary actor Robert DeNiro trained hard for his Oscar winning role as the boxing champion Jake LaMotta in biographical sports drama Raging Bull.
While he was preparing for the role, De Niro spent months of physical training and even took part in three real boxing matches, winning two of them.
LaMotta himself actually believed that De Niro had what it took to make it as a pro boxer.

Extra curiosa is that Maiden’s bass player Steve Harris was aspiring to be a professional footballer and scouted to train for Premier League club West Ham United.
