Spanish MMA veteran Aitana Alvarez is set to make her professional boxing debut on May 30 in Stockholm, Sweden.
After 19 MMA fights, Aitana Alvarez is ready to get out of the cage and step into the boxing ring.
On May 30, she will make her professional boxing debut in a bout that’s scheduled for four two-minute rounds at 63.5 kilo. The fight will take place as part of a local sporting exhibition event.
Álvarez, who has built an extensive international career in professional MMA, sees this debut as an opportunity to explore a new discipline that has long captured her interest.
“Boxing is something that has attracted me for a long time,” Alvarez tells Frontkick.
Despite winning two titles in Sweden’s leading MMA promotion Superior Challenge, the Spaniard claims she lost a bit of motivation in her MMA training. Boxing, however, has given her the spark back.
“The boxing community has been nothing but welcoming to me. I’ve truly felt embraced, which is something I hadn’t experienced for a while during my MMA training. That support has motivated me to step into a new discipline and to begin building a career in boxing from the ground up,” Alvarez says.

Aitana Alvarez: ”Don’t want to be an MMA fighter doing boxing”
Stepping into a new discipline makes Aitana Alvarez feel like a novice again, which she actually really enjoys.
”I’ve been fortunate to have great training partners around me, working on boxing-specific sparring and continuing to develop my skills in this sport,” Alvarez says. ”My goal with this transition is not to be seen as an MMA fighter doing boxing, but as a boxer, someone who truly belongs in the discipline.”
