On May 31, Bulgarian Aleksandra Toncheva steps into the cage for her biggest fight yet – a title fight against Swedish MMA talent Nina Back at Superior Challenge 28.
It will be Toncheva’s first fight on Swedish soil, and the former Bellator, Rizin, and KSW fighter is looking forward to making history in Sweden’s most well-renowned MMA organizations.
– I’m really happy to have the opportunity to fight for the belt in Sweden’s oldest MMA organization, Aleksandra Toncheva tells Frontkick.Online. The motivation is at its maximum, but so is the excitement and responsibility.
The fight is particularly significant for Toncheva, who sees it as a chance to both take an essential step in her career and pay tribute to one of the most important people in her life – her mother.
– Winning the belt is my goal and my dream right now! My mom’s birthday is on May 31, so that’s an even bigger motivation for me. I want to give the best gift to the person who has always been behind me and supported me all my life.
– I’m not thinking about the future right now; all the focus is on this fight!
Aleksandra Toncheva on Nina Back: ”A complex fighter”
On the other side of the cage is Nina Back, highly regarded as one of the top names of the growing Swedish MMA scene.
Back had great success as an amateur, and despite a setback in her pro debut, the Swede has now racked up three straight wins, all by first-round submission.
Aleksandra Toncheva takes her opponent very seriously and expects a tough fight.
– Nina is a complex fighter. She has a lot of experience from both IMMAF and BJJ and is strong on the ground. She is clearly dedicated to MMA. I’m sure we will put on a stunning show for the audience!
Together with her team, Toncheva has put all her focus on preparing thoroughly for what she expects to be a war in Stockholm.
– My coach and I are not underestimating any detail of the preparation. We hope to have time to cover all the aspects we have planned. I want both Nina and I to prove that women can also put on spectacular MMA fights – and make the Swedish audience excited!
Superior Challenge 28 takes place on May 31 in Annexet, Stockholm. In total, the event showcases four title matches, with Aleksandra Toncheva vs. Nina Back being one of the highlights.
