The highly anticipated flyweight fight between Edgar Chairez and Daniel Lacerda featured a bit of controversy.
In the first round, Chairez caught his opponent in a standing guillotine choke, and when Lacerda’s arm went limp, referee Chris Tognoni stepped in and stopped the action, giving Chairez the victory via submission.
Howver, following a replay review by referee Tognoni, Cháirez’s submission win was overturned and the fight was overturned to a no-contest.
Chairez’s management, Iridium Sports Agency, later said they intend to appeal the ruling with the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission).
