Superior Academy 1 MMA 1 Frontkick

The first edition of Superior Academy is just around the corner! The card features the future stars of Swedish MMA and goes down at Fyrishov Arena in Uppsala.

On September 14, Superior Academy takes over Fyrishov Arena in Uppsala for their first-ever event.  The event will feature both pro and amateur MMA bouts, but focuses on the next generation fighters.

”We have a few pro fighters on the card, but this is mostly a platform for amateur talents,” Andres Viracca, Head of Superior Academy, said.

Let’s check out some of the fighters to keep an extra eye on at the Superior Academy fight card!

Sukhrob Tokhirov

Allstars Training Center prospect Sukhrob Tokhirov is a well-rounded fighter known for his relentless pace in the training sessions.

”My goal is always to dominate and finish the fight,” he recently told Maximum Sports. ”It will be an intense fight and I will have to give everything I got to win, but I will do what it takes.”

Tokhirov’s got a certain energy around him that is necessary for a successful career in the cage. Be sure to keep an eye on this talent!

Jonathan Larsson

Decorated Muay Thai fighter Jonathan Larsson made his amateur MMA debut earlier this summer. On Saturday September 14, he returns for his second MMA outing as he will take on Abdulrahman Amaev in a catchweight bout.

With his successful background as a Muay Thai fighter, it will be very interesting to see the experienced Larsson build up his game in a new sport and continue to grow as a fighter.

”After ten years of Muay Thai I need a new challenge,” Larsson told Maximum Sports a while back.

Linus Jönsson

Linus Jönsson will take the next of his young MMA career at Superior Academy. He vows to take the opportunity to show Sweden what he’s made of.

”I know my potential and what I’m capable of, but I haven’t been able to show it yet since I lacked some important parts in my training and in my life,” he recently told Maximum Sports.

It will be very interesting to see what Jönsson can come up with when his fighting and mind is in the right place!

Nermin Hajdarpasic

No list without Nermin Hajdarpasic!

If you have seen him fight before you know why this is a treat for the Uppsala audience. If you haven’t – make sure you don’t miss the chance of seeing the entertaining ex-boxing champ in the cage!

Christian Hansen

Christian Hansen doesn’t lack confidence stepping into the cage on September 14 – and we love it!

”I’m a mix of Ryan Gosling, Hongkong-action and an 80’s action hero,” Hansen told Maximum Sports. ”Pick whatever hero you want, I’m him!”

”Linus Jönsson is a hard man. He follows Jesus Christ and loves monkeys. He sounds like a cool dude, but I’m forced to use violence on him.”

We’re looking forward to seeing the action hero in action. If he’s half as good in the cage as on the mic it will be a great fight!

Freddy Castro

The one and only Freddy ”Krueger” Castro will make his MMA debut at Superior Challenge.

With his extensive striking background, Castro is most likely the fighter with most international experience on the fight card.

It’s always interesting to see martial artists take on a new combat sport. With a dangerous striking specialist like Freddy, a highlight reel knockout is never far away.

Michaela Lundholm

Speaking of striker switching to mixed martial arts, Swedish kickboxing champion Michaela Lundholm will also make her MMA debut at Fyrishov Arena.

”My goal is to become a professional fighter,” Lundholm told Maximum Sports. ”This is just the start of my MMA journey.”

Mohsen Akbari

Mohsen Akbari

With his recent stone cold interview, Mohsen Akbari set the bar for the amateur fighters at Superior Academy and the whole country. It’s been a long time since we saw a up-and-coming fighter with that killer vibe.

If he brings half the intensity from the interview into the cage, it will be the best fight of the night by far!

Andreas Sundman

Andreas Sundman

Andreas Sundman doesn’t hesitate to take on anyone.

In his MMA debut he faced acclaimed amateur star Liam Pitts. On September 14, in his second-ever fight, he will face striking sensation Freddy Castro, a seasoned Muay Thai and kickboxing champion who moves from pure striking to MMA.

Sundman, however, is confident in his own abilities without underestimating his opponent. With risk comes reward; with a win he will definitely put himself on the map of Swedish fight fans.

William Karlsson

William Karlsson

William Karlsson is up for his biggest test to date as he will fight Martin Karlsson for the Superior Academy amateur lightweight title. The two clashed a while back, with Martin coming out as the winner.

”I hit him good then and I will hit him even better this time,” William told Maximum Sports.

Delivering a show for the Uppsala crowd almost seems as important as winning the title and avenging the loss.

”The fans can expect a show, wherever the fight will take place. I’m always trying to finish my opponents.”

Rematches are always interesting, especially with a belt on the line. Don’t miss this one!
