This past Saturday’s AFN 8 delivered a lot of high caliber MMA action!

The card featured two title fights, as well as a bunch of other highly interesting matchups, including the pro debut of Liam Pitts.

Check out Tobias Lindkvist’s five biggest takeaways from the night in Stockholm.

1. Liam Pitts best performance!

Damn, Liam Pitts is an ice-cold killer!

The surging bantamweight looked like a seasoned veteran when he stepped into the cage for his first-ever pro MMA fight. In the cage he put on a near flawless performance that was just as calculated as it was well-executed.

We already knew that Liam is a talented and hard-working fighter, but the calmness and patience he showed in his pro debut is of a fighter years into his pro career. Very, very impressive!

2. Djaba is back!

I’ve been waiting a long time to see Djaba Murtazaliev back in action, and damn, he delivered one of the most electrifying performances on the whole card. Hopefully we will see him back in action shortly, because he’s one helluva performer!

3. We’re there for blood, not music!

I don’t intend to shit on the singers’ performances in any way, they are all skilled at what they do, but the evening’s three musical breaks felt more like an unnecessary detour between the fights than an addition to the card.

Maybe it’s just me, but high-class violence is more than enough for entertainment at a MMA event!

4. Megic Mike steps up

Influencer-turned-MMA-fighter Megic Mike really showed improvement in his fight against Adijan Omerovic.

As a fight fan and combat sports journalist, I’ve never been particularly interested in seeing influencers fight, even though they are brave to step into the cage.

However, at AFN 8, Mike showed that he’s taking the fight game seriously, as both his technique and cardio improved a lot. Hats off to him!

5. Just keep doing what you do Samuel!

You know that a fighter has high expectations of himself when he’s a bit unhappy with completely dominating his opponent before winning via TKO in the second round.

”It wasn’t the cleanest finish, but still a finish,” Bark said after the fight.

With his eyes set on a career in the UFC, ”Sammon Decker” is eager to show the world what he’s made of. Just continue to do your thing Samme. Big things will come your way!
