The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing spectacle is just a week away!

An all-time great versus a YouTuber-turning-boxer on Netflix – this fight is a monumental marketing campaign. But what’s in it for the fans of boxing?

Frontkick digs deep to find five reasons to watch Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul!

1. Knockout power vs. Youth

How long will 58-year-old Mike Tyson last?

Judging by his training footage he’s looking real sharp and still possesses his trademark one-punch KO power.

However, going into the later rounds, how much will Paul’s youth and stamina play a factor? Quite a lot of you ask me.

2. The disturbing age difference

As far as I know, there has never been a 31-year age difference between fighters in a professional boxing contest before.

Tyson has not boxed since his 2020 exhibition against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. ended in a draw. His last pro boxing fight went down in 2005 when Paul was just eight years old.

The age difference is both dangerous and disturbing, but still a factor that makes this fight interesting (and awful).

3. Mike Tyson is one of the best to ever to it

Besides Muhammad Ali, there’s probably never been a more famous boxer than Mike Tyson. Like him or not, he’s one of the biggest sports stars in the past 40 years.

Of course I understand that people who were born during or after his prime want to take every possibility to see the man in the ring. This is most likely his last dance.

4. The fantastic co-main event

As a boxing fan, I think the co-main event beats the main event by miles.

The rematch between undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor and undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano is one of the most exciting boxing title fights of 2024.

In 2022, Taylor and Serrano made history as the first-ever female fighters to headline Madison Square Garden, in front of a sold-out crowd. The bout ended in a narrow split decision in favor of Taylor, and I simply can’t wait to see the rematch.

The title bout certainly gives credibility and weight to the Paul vs. Tyson fight card and is a great opportunity to spread the gospel of women’s boxing to the masses.

5. The Netflix experience

This is the first time streaming giant Netflix is a part of a major boxing event and there’s a lot of interest from the fight world on how the broadcast will go down.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of the main event, streaming it on a major entertainment platform – as a non-PPV – is an incredible marketing move. I can’t wait to see the number of viewers for this card!
