The ultra-tough lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis suffered a brutal beating by Renato Moicano in the main event of this past Saturday’s UFC Paris.
Saint-Denis was the betting favorite ahead of the fight, but the Brazilian veteran took the fight to the ground and delivered so much damage that the French fighter’s eyes were almost swollen shut by the end of the first round.
After the second round, which Saint-Denis actually won, the swelling got to the point where he couldn’t see and the doctor was forced to stop the action.
”It was not my day, this sport is hard but incredible,” Saint-Denis wrote on Instagram (Translated from French). ”Thank you all for your unwavering support. Proud to have been able to represent France in the octagon at home. Respect to my opponent for facing me at home and congratulations to him.”
