Swedish MMA fighter Renato Vidovic is forced to retire due to a serious eye injury.
Vidovic fought at FCR 19 this past Saturday, and the following Wednesday he woke up with an intense headache and immediately went to the hospital where he had three surgeries. The flyweight’s orbital bone was broken and he had an aggressive infection in his body.
In a long and emotional post on Facebook, the flyweight explains the situation.
”Unfortunately I can’t see at all with my left eye. It’s a very small chance that my eyesight will come back again. But I’m okay after the circumstances,” Vidovic wrote.

The injury is so bad that Renato Vidovic is forced to end his promising MMA career.
”It’s a tough way to end my MMA career like this, and it’s tough to move on. I had so much more to give. My goals were so much higher than this and I know how far I could have gone. But this is the reality and I will do the best I can with it. My future opponents can at least relax now, you don’t have to face me anymore.
Vidovic is one of the most accomplished amateur fighter in Sweden, as a five time Swedish MMA champion and two-time IMMAF European champion.
