As Frontkick recently revealed, Swedish prospect Samuel “Sammon Decker” Bark has signed a new contract with European MMA giant OKTAGON.
With former champion Losene Keita making the move to the UFC, the OKTAGON featherweight division is more open than it’s been in years. Sitting at No. 6 in the rankings, the Swedish standout could be just one or two victories away from a shot at the title.
According to Bark, OKTAGON MMA is the perfect platform to deliver spectacular finishes. Although nothing is set in stone, he believes it’s only a matter of time before he gets the chance to fight for an OKTAGON title.
“OKTAGON has a big audience, and if I deliver a knockout like I did against Baysangur Makaev, I’ll get my shot,” Bark recently told Frontkick. ”We’ve already talked about a title fight, but first I need to secure a solid win – then I can challenge for the belt.”
Let’s break down some of the most exciting matchups that could shape Samuel Bark’s future in OKTAGON.
Gjoni Palokaj

Record: 12-3 (5-0 in OKTAGON MMA)
Ranked No. 5, Gjoni Palokaj has established himself as a true force in OKTAGON.
Currently riding a seven-fight winning streak – with five of those victories in OKTAGON – he’s quickly becoming one of the most talked-about names in the featherweight division.
Representing the renowned Fightschool Hannover, Palokaj also trains alongside fellow rising star Max Holzer, making the German gym one of the hottest breeding grounds for talent in European MMA.
A matchup against Palokaj would be a tough but interesting fight for Samuel Bark.
Khalid Taha

Record: 16-5 (2-0 in OKTAGON MMA)
Former UFC fighter Khalid Taha is a real seasoned veteran. After his short stint in the world’s leading MMA promotion, Taha delivered the straight KO victories and is undefeated in OKTAGO MMA.
A fight against a tough striker like Taha could be exactly what Samuel Bark needs to make a statement and secure a title shot in OKTAGON.

Record: 11-0 (5-0 in OKTAGON MMA)
With four finishes in just five promotional bouts, Hannover’s Max Holzer is quickly establishing himself as one of OKTAGON’s brightest rising stars.
Known for his excellent grappling, Holzer could present a serious challenge for the more striking-focused Samuel Bark. However, the Swede has shown that his takedown defense is strong enough to neutralize skilled grapplers – and that could make this a very intriguing matchup.
Mago Machaev

Record: 16-2 (3-1 in OKTAGON MMA)
Mago Machaev entered OKTAGON as a lightweight in the promotion’s $1 million tournament. Now he’s a top ranked featherweight with his eyes set on the title.
Machaev is a versatile fighter, dangerous both on the ground and on his feet. Of everyone on the roster, Mago is likely one of the toughest challenges Samuel Bark could face right now.

Record: 12-3 (4-1 in OKTAGON MMA)
No. 1 ranked Niko Samsonidse is 4-1 in OKTAGON and probably next in line for a title shot.
The 30-year-old is Germany’s top BJJ black belt and champion of the world’s largest grappling organization, NAGA, and known for his fast-paced, decisive style.
In other words, Samsonidse is a nightmare of a matchup for anyone in the division!
