Swedish ONE Championship title holder Smilla Sundell is one of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world. With a ONE Strawweight Muay Thai title to her name, the 19-year-old has started to transition more and more to MMA.
”It feels good. I’m a fast learner according to my coaches, so that feels great. I enjoy choking people,” Sundell told Frontkick’s Vidar Redmond.
The young champion trains both at Allstars Training Center in Sweden as well as at the Fairtex Gym in Thailand.
”I have started to train MMA over there (Thailand) as well and that’s great. I will go back to MMA over there and do more Muay Thai too,” Sundell said.
Smilla Sundell is the youngest to win a ONE Muay Thai title
In her ONE Championship debut, Smilla Sundell scored a impressive third-round knockout of Diandra Martin, and just two months later she defeated Jackie Buntan to win the ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship.
With the win, Sundell became the youngest person to ever win a ONE World Title in Muay Thai.
The Swedish strawweight defended her belt against ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues at ONE Fight Night 14 in September 2023. After two hard rounds, Sundell won the fight via a brutal third-round TKO.
