Multiple-time Muay Thai champion and rising MMA star Samuel “Sammon Decker” Bark returns to OKTAGON MMA on Saturday December 9. He will take on boxer and kickboxer Vladimir Lengal in a highly interesting main card fight.
In an exclusive interview with Frontkick, the Swedish featherweight shares his thoughts on the upcoming fight and return to OKTAGON MMA.
”I’ve seen that my opponent already cuts weight and that makes me excited,” Bark says. ”He has fought at 75 and 72 kilos which means he will cut a lot of weight to make the featherweight limit. He’s so drained he almost looks sick in his fights.”
Wherever the fight takes place, ”Sammon Decker” feels comfortable and well prepared.
”He will try to box with me and knock me out as soon as he can, that’s what I think,” Bark says. ”We will start standing and I might clinch up, maybe even go for a takedown. Anything can happen, but I’m not fucking scared of his boxing.”
Samuel Bark: ”Lengal won’t stand a chance”
Last year, Bark was one of the absolute most active pro fighters in MMA with no fewer than seven (!) fights in promotions like Fight Club Rush, Superior Challenge, Cage Warriors and UAE Warriors.
In 2023, he only fought once, against the undefeated OKTAGON champion Losene Keita.
Why haven’t you been as active in 2023 as last year?
”I didn’t have a gym and it took some time to find a good solution. Now I’ve built a great team around me, and yeah, it just took some time,” Bark says. ”Then when I lost against Losene Keita I felt that I have to focus more on your training and what I can improve.”
Now, however, when things are more stable, the Swedish striker feels like he’s back on track and ready to get back in the win column.
”It feels fucking good, I’m prepared. Lengal won’t stand a chance.”
