Frontkick’s Tobias Lindkvist talks major and minor events from this past week in the Sunday Column.
Andreas Gustafsson will be a star
Sweden’s new UFC fighter, Andreas ”Bane” Gustafsson, has what it takes to be a fan favorite in the promotion.
With a relentless fighting style, fantastic KO-ratio and intimidating looks, he’s just the kind of fighter that Dana White and the promotion likes to put the spotlight on. Gustafsson’s time is now and he seems more than ready to make the absolute most of this opportunity.
Hopefully we will see ”Bane” in the octagon in the next couple of months, in fact, it’s not impossible that he could fight twice more in 2024.
Josefine Knutsson’s most important fight to date
As Frontkick broke Monday, undefeated strawweight Josefine ”Thunder” Knutsson will return to action in December.
With her unblemished record, raw talent and hard dedication, the Swede is one of our absolute biggest prospects. She could very well be facing a top 15 opponent if she wins the upcoming fight in style.
Linn Sandström returns to Sweden!
I just interviewed boxer Linn Sandström who returns to Sweden for her upcoming WBA International Title bout.
“There’s no time to waste, really,” Sandström told Frontkick. ”We want the big titles and when we got the offer to fight for the WBA International Title we immediately accepted.”
Hopefully Swedish mainstream media – as well as the combat sports media – will do their best to put the light on the fight, and Swedish boxing in general. I’m looking forward to the card on October 12!
The Sunday Column song of the week
Back in 1961, The Shirelles released the wonderful ”Baby It’s You”. The song was later recorded by both The Beatles and The Smith, but the original version simply just beats them all. Make sure to check out this gem of a song!
