UFC veteran arrested on kidnapping
UFC bantamweight Casey Kenney has been arrested and charged after an alleged kidnapping on July 21. Phoenix Police arrested Kenney on Friday.
The 33-year-old was booked on charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault (strangulation), and assault. He has since been released from custody. That’s according to MMA Fighting.
Kenney hasn’t competed since 2021, when he suffered a loss to Song Yadong at UFC 265.
Ilia Topuria: Max Holloway is such an easy matchup
Reigning UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is confident that he will become the first to knock out BMF champ Max Holloway.
“If he’s going to bring the same energy he brings in the last 10 seconds of every round when he does his (point to ground), I’m going to knock him out in the first round,” Topuria told MMA Junkie. “Because in the moment he’s going to stop in the middle and start to exchange the punches with me. I recommend him to use a helmet, because he’s going to need.”
Caio Borralho: ”My time is now”
Ahead of Saturday’s main event, Caio Borralho questions ’scary dude’ Jared Cannonier’s hunger to be the best middleweight in the world at 40 years of age.
“I think he’s a very experienced guy, very explosive and has power in his hands,” Borralho said. “He knows how to take the fight where he wants it to go. Definitely an experienced guy. He’s faced a lot of tough opponents. All respect to Jared, but it’s my time now.”
White on Rountree getting title shot over Ankalaev
Many fans and experts were surprised to see the UFC book light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira against Kalil Rountree in the UFC 307 headliner Oct. 5 at Salt Lake City.
According to UFC CEO Dana White, the fight makes perfect sense.
“We had to make this fight card, and as you go down the line you start looking at it, Khalil Rountree makes a lot of sense and you said it yourself: No way in hell that’s not a fun one. Timing is everything – 100 percent,” White said at a recent press conference.
Rountree has won five fights in a row.
