During the years many Swedish MMA fighters put on crazy performances, quick finishes and crazy knockouts in the UFC.
So without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the 20 best Swedish UFC fights ever!
20. Khamzat Chimaev vs. Kevin Holland, 2022

At the chaotic UFC 279 this past September, Khamzat Chimaev eventually faced Kevin Holland in a catchweight bout.
After taking Holland to the ground right away, ”Borz” ended the fight with a D’Arce choke after just two minutes.

Back in 2014, Andreas ”Real Steel” Ståhl took on Gilbert Burns at UFC on Fox 12 in San Jose, California.
The two welterweights were evenly matched and put up a good fight for three rounds, but eventually the Brazilian stood as the winner via unanimous decision.

Back in 2019, Daniel Teymur took one of his biggest wins as he defeated the tough Sung Bin Jo in Stockholm, Sweden.
After three rounds, Teymur Decision stood as the winner via unanimous decision in front of his hometown crowd.

In February 2018, light heavyweight Ilir Latifi needed less than a round to stop the dangerous Ovince Saint Preux and secure a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

In an exciting fight that is sadly overlooked, South Swedish MMA pioneer Mats Nilsson faced hard-nosed Dagestani Omari Akhmedov.
It was a hectic, rough, drag-out fight where both fighters had good moments, but Akhmedov would go on to get his hand raised after three fun rounds.

Back in 2016, Magnus ”Jycken” Cedenblad faced Garreth McLellan in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
After landing a heavy head kick that was partially blocked by McLellan, Cedenblad threw a barrage of punches that led to a TKO finish at the 0:47 mark of Round 2.

When Jack ”The Joker” Hermansson choked out veteran David Branch in just 49 seconds, he put himself on the map for MMA fans around the globe.
The fact that the respected grappler Branch had only been submitted once in his 11-year career did not mean much to Hermansson who took his opponent to the mat and locked in a tight choke.

Lina ”Elbow Queen” Länsberg’s biggest UFC win came against former long-time Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger in 2019.
The Swede entered the octagon as a major underdog, but after massive performance she stood as the winner via unanimous decision.

This is a gem of Swedish MMA that proved the undying fighting spirit that Far North Swedes have.
Tor Troeng is a skilled grappler but when he faced Rafael Natal he didn’t back down from any striking exchanges and gladly stood in the pocket trading vicious shots.
While Troeng ended up losing the fight, he won ”Fight of the Night” honours.

In a legendary fight on home soil Reza Madadi faced then red-hot Michael Johnson in a fight that the Swede-Iranian entered as a heavy underdog.
Madadi was on ice skates early, hurt by the hard-hitting american. However he powered through it and would go on to secure a lovely d’arce choke before a roaring home town crowd.

The awesome Swedish UFC derby between bantamweights rivals Pannie Kianzad and Lina Länsberg lived up to all expectations and more.
The bloody and competitive fight went the distance and after the final bell, Kianzad stood as the winner via unanimous decision.

Despite suffering a broken rib, ”The Joker” was able to pull off an impressive third-round stoppage win against former UFC title challenger Thales Leites.
Absolutely incredible performance!
8. Nico Musoke vs. Kelvin Gastelum, 2014

In June 2014, Nico Musoke put his undefeated UFC record on the line as he clashed with Kelvin Gastelum in a high profile fight. The bout took place at catchweight (172.75 lb) since Gastelum failed to make weight.
After three tough and even rounds where both fighters gave it all, Gastelum eventually stood as the winner via unanimous decision.

When Jack Hermansson took on Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza on short notice he went from an impressive competitor to one of the absolute top dogs in the middleweight division.
With a career-making performance, Hermansson won a one-sided unanimous decision victory over the feared Brazilian grappler.

5. David Teymur vs. Lando Vannata, 2017

In his third UFC fight, lightweight David Teymur took on the highly touted Lando Vannata in the co-main event at UFC 209.
Coming in as a big underdog, the Swede put on a great performance and won the fight by unanimous decision. Teymur was also awarded with the $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.
4. Alexander Gustafsson vs. Daniel Cormier, 2015

The grueling and thrilling title fight between challenger Alexander Gustafsson and champion Daniel Cormier took place in October 2015.
Gustafsson put on a huge performance and landed two takedowns and dropped Cormier with a crazy knee in the third round. The fight could have gone either way, but after the final bell Cormier stood as the winner by split decision.
3. Alexander Gustavsson vs. Glover Teixeira, 2017

In May 2017, ”Mauler” put on a boxing clinic as he faced future champion Glover Teixeira in a five round main event.
In the last round, Gustafsson landed his left jab and long right uppercut three times in a row before knocking out Teixeira with a vicious right hook. What a beautiful combination!
2. Khamzat Chimaev vs. Gilbert Burns, 2022
The all-out war between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns was one hell of a banger.
The fight was back-and-forth during three rounds with neither fighter backing down. In the end, Chimaev edged out a 28-29 unanimous decision victory over Burns to maintain his flawless record.
The bout won the Fight of the Night award and was widely considered to be one of the best of 2022.

The 2013 title bout between Alexander Gustavsson and Jon Jones is one of the greatest MMA fights ever.
It was awarded the “Fight of the Night” bonus and was later named 2013 “Fight of the Year” by World MMA Awards.
The fight is widely considered to be the greatest light heavyweight title bout of all time, and was inducted to UFC Hall of Fame’s Fight Wing.
