The UFC must return to Sweden! The fighters want it and the fans demand it!
The promotion has not held an event in Sweden since UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Smith on 1 June 2019. It’s nothing but a shame that the world’s leading MMA promotion seems to have forgotten about Scandinavia, a region that keeps producing loads of exciting new fighters.
Let’s take a look at five reasons why UFC must come to Sweden in 2025!
1. The growing fan base

The Swedish MMA fanbase is growing stronger and stronger every year. Many of the new fans were too young to even know about MMA the last time UFC visited Sweden.
Let’s give the Swedish fans something to look forward to in 2025. They would pack even the largest arena in the country in no time – no doubt about it!
2. The many new UFC fighters

Josefine Knutsson, Felipe Lima, Andreas ”Bane” Gustafsson and Bernardo Sopai – Sweden has produced a bunch of interesting UFC prospects lately.
Add top names like Guram Kutateladze and Scandinavian fighters like Jack Hermansson, Ivana Petrovic and Nicolas Dalby to the mix and we will have a pretty damn stacked card.
With promotions like FCR, AFN and Superior Challenge, just to name a few, Sweden is the natural hub for MMA in the Nordic countries. For such a small country, Sweden hosts a great number of high quality events every year, where fighters from all over the region come to compete.
MMA fans from all the Nordic countries would literally flood Sweden if the UFC decided to return.
4. The first Khamzat main event

UFC superstar Khamzat Chimaev is one of the few Sweden-connected fighters with enough star quality to headline a card in a major arena in the country.
MMA fans from all over the world are looking forward to his October return against Robert Whittaker, but what better way to follow up the massive fight than a sold out headline bout in Sweden?
5. The return of Alexander Gustafsson

Alexander Gustafsson headlined the latest UFC event held in Stockholm and he would have a hero’s welcome if the promotion put him on a new UFC Sweden card.
No fighter has done so much for Swedish MMA as ”The Mauler”, and seeing him fight in Sweden once again would be a dream come true for many long-time fight fans. Just make it happen UFC!
