Med tre raka UFC-vinster bakom sig rankas nu den svenske stjärntalangen Khamzat Chimaev på 15:e plats bland världseliten i welterviktsdivisionen. Detta får flera att reagera starkt på Twitter.

Den stekhete Stockholmsfajtern Khamzat Chimaev är ett unikum på många sätt. Redan innan han skrev på för UFC beskrevs han som en framtida mästare här hemma i Sverige – och hajpen har spridits över hela världen i takt med hans fenomenala vinster i världens största MMA-organisation.
Men även om 26-åringen är obesegrad med 9-0 i matchfacit och i princip ser oövervinnerlig ut när han fajtas, så har Chimaev inte fått mäta sig mot världseliten än. Således är det fortfarande omöjligt att veta hur bra han verkligen är – oavsett hur imponerande hans matcher har varit hittills.
Redan nu har Chimaev dock lyckats slå sig in bland toppennamnen i UFC-rankingen. Stjärnskottet rankas nu på plats nummer 15 i welterviktsdivisionen (77,1 kilo).

De allra flesta tycks dock vara skeptiska till att Chimaev förtjänar en plats i topp 15-rankingen redan nu – utan att ha mött särskilt tufft motstånd.
Man pekar särskilt på faktumet att hans enda UFC-vinst i weltervikt är segern mot Rhys McKee – en fajter vars UFC-record är 0-2 i skrivande stund. Khamzats matcher mot John Phillips och Gerald Meerschaert avgjordes nämligen i mellanvikt (83,9 kilo) och bör således inte räknas, anser vissa.

Oavsett vad folk tycker och tänker om rankingen, så kommer många frågetecken snart redas ut när Khamzat Chimaev gör upp mot Leon Edwards – som har vunnit åtta UFC-matcher i rad.
Edwards är rankad på tredje plats i weltervikten och har länge varit mycket nära en titelfajt. Därmed har Chimaev chansen att bevisa hur han står sig mot divisionens elit – och slungas upp ytterligare i rankingen vid vinst.
