An interesting rematch between former Swedish National MMA Team representatives Nina Back (0-0) and Josefine Modig (0-0) was just announced for Fight Club Rush (FCR) 17, which goes down in Uppsala on September ninth.
Two two met in the finals at the 2021 IMMAF World Cup in Prague, while both representing the Swedish National Team. It was a close fight but in the end Modig came out on top, winning a unanimous decision.
Back fights out of Söders Fight Gym in Gävle and is one of the most credentialled members of the Swedish National Team, with a whopping six silver medals won throughout various IMMAF amateur MMA championships. With a wealth of experience, Back has proven herself against many of the best, holding wins over the likes of former world gold medalist Bezan Mahmudi.
The gold medal win at the 2021 World Cup served as a coming out party for Modig, who went on to win silver in the 2022 World Championships as well as the Swedish Championships, defeating Malmös Clara Leivas in the finals.
Back and Modig are two high-level amateurs who’s pro debuts have been anxiously awaited by fans. Now they will finally go pro, and will do so against each other.
FCR 17 will take place at Fyrishov Arena in Uppsala and marks the city’s first-ever MMA event. The card will be headlined by a flyweight title bout between Renato Vidovic and Jonny Touma.
The co-main event features a welterweight clash between Sweden’s Christian Stigenberg and Finland’s Toni Lampinen.
