Swedish MMA veteran Andreas “Real Steel” Ståhl will challenge for welterweight gold on his home turf as he headlines Saturday’s Battle of Botnia 7.
Coming from a title bout win at Superior Challenge 25, Ståhl could secure his second title in as many fights if he defeats Gabriel Barreiro come Saturday.
Talking exclusively to Frontkick, “Real Steel” opens up on fighting for the promotion’s welterweight strap against the tough Brazilian.
“We are similar in many ways,” Ståhl says. “We started our pro careers at the same time, we are the same age, we have pretty much the same record. He’s a tough opponent for sure.”
“He competed against a lot of good fighters and challenged for the EMC title. He’s been in a full camp for this fight, so I know he will come well prepared.”

Ståhl did his last hard training on Monday and now focuses on cutting weight and keeping his body going.
“It feels great, just like it should feel,” Ståhl says. “I’m starting to feel the nerves. All the training is done and now I just focus on what will come on Saturday.”
How would it feel to win another title?
“It would mean a lot to me. It’s extra special to represent Norrland at Battle of Botnia. It was here everything started for me as I made my pro debut at Battle of Botnia back in 2009. To win their title 14 years later would be awesome!”
