In the Superior Challenge 25 co-main event, Andreas Ståhl and Paulo Silva just clashed for the promotion’s vacant welterweight title.
Entering the cage to Mötley Crüe’s heavy metal hit song Live Wire, Ståhl was fired up from the start.
In the opening round, Ståhl landed a heavy left straight away, and when the fight took to the ground, the Swede ended up on top. He was able to land some good punches while pressing the Brazilian against the cage. With about two minutes left he put on a flurry that seemed to hurt his opponent, however, Silva survived the round.
Ståhl landed a big knee early in the second round. The Brazilian pressed him to the cage but Ståhl got the takedown. On the mat, the Swede landed heavy ground-and-pound until the referee stopped the fight, declaring Andreas Ståhl the winner via TKO and the new Superior Challenge welterweight champion.
“He’s tough Paulo,” Ståhl said in the post-fight interview. “I went all in to finish the fight, and I did. All respect to Paulo.”
With the massive win, “Real Steel” went to 14-5 as a professional MMA fighter.
