Swedish MMA fighter Hanna Palmqvist is an athlete that goes her own way.
After a fantastic amateur career that culminated in a IMMAF world championship gold medal, the Swede decided it was time to go pro. Instead of making her debut in a local Swedish organization, like AFN or Wolf Fight Promotion, Palmqvist made her bones in international promotion ONE Championship on just a few days notice.
“Everything went so fast that I barely understood myself what we were going through,” Palmqvist told Frontkick’s Ashah Tafari about the debut. “I never cut weight before so I’ve learned so much these past few days.”
Hanna Palmqvist: “Felt like he hated me from the start”
Hanna Palmqvist put on a huge performance in her debut. She outfought the talented Chloe Cooke over three rounds with her crisp striking and relentless pressure. The Swede was the aggressor during the entire fight and even got a yellow card from world-famous referee Herb Dean for grabbing Cooke’s glove.
“He gave me a yellow card and a fine. Even though I never held her glove,” Palmqvist said. “It felt like he hated me from the start. Next time I’ll bring an UNO reverse card and turn things around.”
