When an intruder entered Strömbackaskolan in Piteå, Sweden, and started to act threatening to students and teachers, principal Jonas Wallin knew he needed to act quickly.

As a former kickboxing champion with an MMA background, the principal took the alcohol-smelling intruder to the ground when he got physical.

“My only goal was to keep him away from the students,” Wallin told SVT.

The intruder was not hurt during the incident, and was later taken in custody by the local police.

As a former kickboxing champion with a world championship gold medal to his name, Wallin was able to stay calm and collected during the incident.

“I have a background with full contact, so I have learned how to stay calm in stressful situations,” Wallin said. “Martial arts is a sport, you are not just going in there and starting swinging, it’s about being calm and systematic. If you lose your temper you are likely to lose the match.”
