Nebil Ibrahim is one of the brightest shining stars on the amateur boxing scene. This summer he will fight in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

“It’s the biggest competition for any athlete, to be competing at the Olympics. Everybody is dreaming about it but few reach the goal. To be one of the 18 boxers in the world to compete in an Olympics is just amazing,” Ibrahim recently told SVT Sport.

Turning to professional boxing is not on the horizon for the Swedish amateur pugilist.

“No, to have a WBC belt and make millions is nothing compared to an Olympic medal, not in my world at least,” Ibrahim said. “That’s the biggest thing, fighters who have both an Olympic medal and a belt say that the medal is worth more.”

Nebil Ibrahim aims to win a medal

There is a slim chance that the Swedish Olympic Committee will send someone other than Ibrahim, if SOC decides that another boxer has a better chance in the Games. However, everything points towards the fact that Nebil Ibrahim will represent Sweden in the Paris Olympics.

“Just participating is huge but I think that I have a good chance of winning a medal. Honestly, my goal is to get a medal.”

The 2024 Summer Olympics scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in France.
