On October 15, undefeated Swedish heavyweight Nermin Hajdarpasic will return to the cage on Oktagon MMA. He will face the experienced German heavyweight Alexander Poppeck who has a record of 14-4. Poppeck is an opponent Hajdarpasic takes seriously, however, at the same time the Swede feels like he has nothing to lose going into the fight.

In a new interview with Swedish MMA podcast Käftsmällspodden, the outspoken and entertaining fighter commented on the upcoming catchweight bout.

“I see a lot of holes in his game, but I don’t want to be cocky, I also have a lot of holes in my game,” Hajdarpasic said. “I have nothing to lose, if I lose I’m 4-1, that’s nothing for a heavyweight.”

The Västerås fighter made his professional debut in March 2021, and so far he has four straight wins.

“Now, when I’m 4-0, everyone wants to fight me. They can all suck my ass,” Hajdarpasic said. “Bellator, PFL, KSW, they are all calling me out. They all want to kick my ass. It’s funny.”

However, the Swede doesn’t seem interested in fighting in the PFL, or any other organization, where you sign up on an extensive contract.

“You get stuck with a contract. A contract for two or three years for three fights. I don’t like that. It’s better in Oktagon; one year and three fights. That’s awesome, one fight every three months,” Hajdarpasic said. “And 15 000-20 000 people in the audience. It’s a lot of Yugoslavs in Germany, so I will have a good crowd there.”

The former Swedish heavyweight boxing champion is well prepared for the upcoming catchweight bout at 99 kilos. He actually claimed he is done with heavyweight and aims to compete in light heavyweight from now on.

“I’m in very good shape, so no excuses. I’ve lost 14 kilos. I’m so much faster,” Hajdarpasic said. “When I started this camp I was at 114 kilos. When I got rid of the extra weight, I think I could fight at 93 kilo.”
