Viaplay Group has extended its exclusive rights to show UFC in four Nordic countries in a new multi-year agreement. That’s according to a press release from the streaming company.
For MMA fans in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway it means that they will be able to watch around 40 live UFC events each year on the Viaplay streaming service. That includes all numbered UFC events and the UFC Fight Nights.
In addition to the main card bouts, which is broadcasted with local commentators and experts, every undercard fight where a Nordic fighter competes will be available on Viaplay.
UFC on Viaplay
The Viaplay Group EVP and Chief Sports & Business Development Office Peter Nørrelund commented on the new deal.
“No other MMA organization attracts a bigger audience than the UFC, in the Nordics or worldwide. Extending our long-term partnership with the UFC reflects how much we prioritize offering the most relevant sports to our viewers, as well as our support for MMA’s continued growth,” Nørrelund said in the press release.
“We look forward to bringing spectacular martial arts action to even more fans in the coming years on Viaplay, as part of our unique portfolio of live sports.”
At the moment, the UFC roster includes Nordic fighters like Jack “The Joker” Hermansson, Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson, Pannie Kianzad, Josefine “Thunder” Knutsson, Nicolas Dalby, Damir Hadzovic, Mark Madsen and Ivana Petrovic.
