Swedish junior bantamweight Liam Pitts was scheduled to face Team Tajikistan’s Buzurgmehri Saifullozoda in the eight-finals at the 2023 World Championships in Tirana, Albania.

However, Pitts is out of the competition due to a huge mistake from the organization. That’s according to an Instagram post from the promising Swede.

“I’m sad to announce that my World Cup journey has come to an end. It’s sad that an organization is run so unprofessionally. They shut down the sauna so that no member of Team Sweden could use it, which is a must when you cut weight. Some barely made weight but I was one of them who didn’t make weight,” Pitts wrote in an Instagram story.

Liam Pitts dominated in his only fight

Yesterday, debutant Liam Pitts put on a massive performance as he took on Gancho Ivanov from Team Bulgaria in his first fight for the Swedish National Team.

Pitts controlled the fight from the start and took the fight to the ground early in the first round. In the second round, the young Swede scored another early takedown, and this time he mounted his opponent and landed heavy ground-and-pound until the referee seen enough and stopped the fight.

Liam Pitts will return to action at AFN 4, on December 30, to take on Rasmus Vauhkonen in a bantamweight bout.
