Swedish MMA amateur fighter Viktor Mangs had a successful 2023.
Establishing himself as a top lightweight in Sweden, and crowning the year fighting in the World Championships in Albania, it’s fair to say that Mangs got his breakthrough on the regional amateur MMA scene.
In an exclusive interview with Frontkick, the young amateur prospect sums up the year and reveals his plan for the future.
“2023 has been great for me. I’ve fought a lot and had the opportunity to compete at bigger events which has been a lot of fun. Even though I had a couple of injuries during the year I’ve been able to train well,” Mangs says.
The lightweight made his National Team debut at the World Championships in Albania a few weeks back. He won his first fight via a third round guillotine choke but lost the eight-finals via submission.
“The World Championships in Albania was a huge experience. To represent Sweden in sports has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I looked forward to having a lot of fights but unfortunately I just got two in the end.”
“Last year as an amateur”
Viktor Mangs competed five times in 2023, in promotions like Fight Club Rush and Allstars Fight Night. Next year he intends to keep fighting as an amateur before going pro in 2025.
“Next year will most likely be my last as an amateur, so my goal is to get as much experience as possible,” Mangs says. “I will train a bit more at a few different gyms and hopefully fight just as much as this year.”

Viktor Mangs signed with Viracci Sports Management
Viktor Mangs is one of many Swedish pro and amateur fighters to have signed with the newly started Viracci Sports Management. Inking the deal is a big step in the young amateur fighter’s career.
“Signing with VSM will help me when it comes both to training and competing, in ways like contacts and financial support with training camps and such,” Mangs says.
