“I was honestly surprised to hear him talking like that,” Swärd said. “I was even more surprised when he saw how he expressed himself regarding me wanting to take it over the phone, that it was ‘Ex on the Beach style’.”
A frustrated Swärd claimed that beefing in social media is something he rather not do if he can avoid it.
“That’s just exactly why I don’t want to reply via social media. Out of respect I went to him personally. If he would have taken the call we wouldn’t have been here, but he would rather create headlines, and I guess that’s up to him. I thought we had more professional respect for each other.”
As both Ringvall and Swärd are in the absolute top of the Swedish lightweight division, and both about to turn pro in 2024, it’s very likely that we will see the pairing duke it out in the cage sooner rather than later.
“Anton is an extremely good fighter who just won a Swedish Championship. But I am not running from anyone and I never ducked a fight. In fact, I have never refused to fight him when it worked for both of us, that’s a fact. We are both in the top of the Swedish lightweight so of course our paths will cross in the cage. It will be a hard and tough fight for both of us,” Swärd told Maximum Sports.
