Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will defend his belt for the first time on Saturday’s UFC 300. He will take on former champion Jamahal Hill, who vacated his belt after an injury.
The Brazilian has a lot of respect for Hill’s power, but still thinks that Jiri Prochazka – who Pereira knocked out to win the title – is a far more complete and dangerous fighter.
“I think Jiri is more accurate and precise with his strikes, the way that he flows, the way that he fights,” Pereira told CBS Sports. “Jamahal Hill has a little more advantage on his power, which makes him dangerous, too, because nobody wants to take a hit and go down in a fight. But when you talk about skill level, Jiri Prochazka is superior.”
Jamahal Hill takes the reigning champion serious as he even reached out to Pereira’s rival and former opponent Israel Adesanya in his preparation for the title fight at UFC 300.
“(Israel Adesanya) was just giving me some advice and insights on what he’s seen and his experience of being in there fighting Alex. Just basically essentially those things and how to approach and things like that,” Hill recently revealed during the UFC Vegas 90 post-fight show.
