Pereira prepares for Adesanya, “dangerous” sparring with 290-pound Olympic boxing medalist

On Saturday April 8, middleweight champion Alex Pereira will take on his rival Israel Adesanya in his first title defense.

Pereira won the title in November last year with a impressive fifth-round knockout, and now, he’s preparing himself for another tough fight.

n a new tweet he’s seen sparring with super-heavyweight Zhilei Zhang who’s a 2008 Olympics silver medalist and professional boxer.

“What a sparring! After four rounds with Zhilei Zhang I’m very confident for my next fight!” Pereira wrote on social media. “It was a hard and dangerous sparring — exactly what I needed. Now I know even more: I’m 100%  ready for 8th of April,” Pereira wrote on Twitter.

Zhang will also fight soon as he is booked to face undefeated WBO interim champion Joe Joyce at the Copper Box Arena in London, England on 15 April. As a professional the Chinese is 24-1-1, with 19 knockouts.

UFC 287 with Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya

UFC 287 takes place at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida.

Besides the massive middleweight headliner, the card features a welterweight co-main event where former title contenders Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal will duke it out.

The Miami crowd will also see a welterweight bout between Kevin Holland and Santiago Ponzinibbio, as well as the return of the hyped bantamweight prospect Raul Rosas Jr.
